Things are a brewing….
American Soldier says,
You ever get that feeling that life is about to throw you one helluva curve ball? I have that feeling now. Hence why I am posting at 1:44am when I should be sleeping.
What has been your experience with weird feelings and how it’s turned out?

Hehehe…I get that feeling whenever they call out my name in formation.
Oh boy, I know those feeligns WELL! I’ve learned to listen closely to that freaky intuition of mine, LOL!!!!! but it’s not *always* accurate…
Last spring, I just had the most horrific feeling that something REALLY BAD was going to happen this summer…it was a nagging and unexplained feeling that lingered for several weeks. Well, here it is, almost November, and thankfully it was wrong!
However, I can’t tell you how many times i’ve had “feelings” that turned out to be eerily, dead-on ACCURATE!!!! Usually, I’ve noticed, it’s almost always with respect to somone ELSE’s life though, LOL, not my own, LOL. For example… last year our family had the priviledge of supporting a wonderful Soldier that we adopted thru adoptaplatoon. MANY times, I couldn’t even guess how many, I’d suddenly get “a feeling” that “something” bad was going on (gee, in a war, ya think?! LOL)…. but what was totally freaky, almost without exception, every single time, either he or his mom (usually his mom) would call or email me and tell me about an EXTREMELY close call or about something horribly bad that had happened…. and comparing notes, it was always right at the same time I’d had those feelings.
That has happened a few times with some of my other Soldiers, though never to the extent as with this one in particular.
Once I even had a dream another friend of mine was in a serious wreck and injured so bad he might not make it, that he was clinging to life in the ICU on life support… I chalked it up to too much pizza right before bed, LOL…but prayed extra for him just in case, LOL…. (of course, never mentioned it to him or ANYONE) ….and three weeks later, I got an instant message from him, saying that he’d been in a very serious wreck ~ fell asleep at the wheel, his truck flipped 7 or 8 times, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt… and somehow he walked away with only very minor injuries ~ the paramedics could’t believe he survived at all, much less walked away from it!!!!
I aobut had a heart attack when he told me that, LOL……
Anyway, so needless to say, over time i’ve learned to listen very closely to that freaky intuition feeling… but like I said ~ typically, it only works relative to my friends/soldiers lives, not mine, LOL!!!!!! Usually when i feel like life is gonna throw me a curveball, LOL…it doesn’t. *whew*
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents.
Oh Soldier….. that gave me a chuckle. I’m checking my email at 4:30am and reading blogs when that happens to me! Hahahaha
Honestly, though, when that happens to me the first thing I do is groan and moan. I HATE those curve balls! The next thing I do is instantly start praying, ‘whatever You’re sending my way, Lord, give me the strength, wisdom, and desire to do Your will.’ Then I gently remind Him that I really didn’t want another character building experience!
Many times when I thought that life’s ‘curve ball’ was NOT the direction I wanted to go I have been able to look back and realize it was an experience that a lot of good came out of. So, be optimistic and take courage that you may chosen for yet another adventure. Another season perhaps.
Or, of course, there’s just the possibility that it was an anxiety attack caused by stress or eating the wrong thing too close to bedtime! I know those all too well, too!
But just in case buckle your seatbelt and get ready for the ride!
I’ve had those feelings and it’s either going to turn out to be right - or you ate the wrong thing.
In any event, goodluck.
How’s the shoulder?
Liz,
Shoulder is good.
Soldier,
I think everyone that is truley “intune” gets those feelings. There are some people out of touch and then there are people like us that have that sixth sense. My boyfriend and I talk about it all the time.
I was extremely close to my granny. On my 18th birthday she gave me her old wedding ring set and this card. As soon as I read the card, that in no way was a signal to something being wrong, I got a sick feeling and started crying. I just knew our time together was going to be short. Within a few weeks she was diagnosed with cancer and died a few months later.
My boyfriend’s brother had a sick feeling all day one time. It just so turned out that was the day my boyfriend was hit by an IED. Fortunatly the IED was burried too deep and he only took a small amount of shrapnel, that he still digs out today.
Sorry these are such negative examples. I get feelings like you are having a lot and most of the time I am wrong. Just remember God will never give you a load you cannot bear. There is a reason he has chosen you for various things. I will keep you and your family in my prayers! I really enjoy reading your blog and hope to purcahse your book!
Keep smiling!
Ashley
Hmmmm…. I wonder if this might have something to do with the whole shoulder thing??? I’m guessing you’re still gonna have to have surgery, right???????? So maybe your subconscious is not at all happy about it and the recovery process….. that could be it, maybe?
Ugghh!! I just typed a LONG response to this..with highly entertaining stories…
, and then my electric went out…Anyway, I have to cook dinner now. So another time I will retype it. But I do get thoes feelings a lot and usually find that something was happening at that time or something does happen and you go “Ahh..now things make sense”
Oh man, this totally sucks… for the past 24 hours I’ve had “one of those feelings” taht something was really wrong re: one of my Soldiers.. we’re talking very serious feelings of dread here….got an email from him today, and a few of his friends were wounded by an IED yesterday!
They’ll be ok, thank God… but it really freaked me out.. I kept telling myself I was being an overly-paranoid Momma Kat again, but dang if that impression wasn’t right on.
Well, thank God my “baby” is ok and his friends are gonna be alright. But I just had to post this here, since we were on this topic……!
Kat,
As a Mom you have to let these feelings go.. they don’t count if they are specific and about a loved one..That is just plain old ‘Mom neurosis’ And sometimes, (especially if watching media hype) they are manufactured.
This advice from someone sitting in ‘Wilmas path’ and not worried.
Back in August, I had this urge to go and photograph a lot of places on the Mississippi coast. I spent most afternoons going around to to my favorite places and just shooting pictures. I felt a sense of urgency about it and didn’t understand why. This went on for 2 weeks before Hurricane Katrina hit and destroyed my beautiful coast. My only regret is that I didn’t listen more to this urge and take more pictures.
Julie ~ the weird thing is, about 8 times out of 10, they do turn out to be right, LOL!!!!
soemtimes it is Mom Neurosis, LOL, but a lot of times it’s not, LOL. Been that way my whole life, i almost always seem to “know” when something is going on with a friend or loved one, even without any contact from them, LOL!!! Like I said…it’s FREAKY!
I’ve had so many situations that now I always listen to my gut…it’s really never failed me.
Kat,
I know what you mean, I guess i just try to ignore it, part of my eliminate stress thing I have going on, like not watching CNN.
Julie,
Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Just keep trucking!
