British Helicopter crash

American Soldier says,

A British Helicopter crashed in Basra, Iraq. Unless you are living under a stone or have tuned out the MSM’s then you would know. Well the aftermath is what is disturbing me. The people reacted not by helping but celebrating in a mob affect. Basra as you know is controlled by the Brits. Basra has been one of the safest places to be in Iraq, you wouldn’t know that from the MSM’s.

Well according to them because they do post partial facts at time states that a Helicopter crashed. Video which is floating around the net shows the edited versions and then if you do some more searching you can see the unedited version. I don’t know what the hell happened in Basra but they pieces of shits were messing with the dead, pulling parts from the copter, etc.

Black Hawk down anyone?

It makes me sick to think that the people whom we lay our lives down for would act like this. I don’t give a rip about what people say about a mob affect. If a person of influence speaks in Iraq the people listen. There are religious chiefs and Amir’s all over, and I bet one was in that crowd. If those gave a rat’s ass they would have told people to stop and help rather than act ‘a fool!

All it takes is one man of character - apparently Basra has none of those….

  2. yankeemom Says:

That just made my blood boil when I read about it. I think that has been the trouble in that region for a long time ~ they just go with what ever is blowing on them.

  3. Donna Says:

    AS,
I’m like you, that made me sick too. The gall of these people after our troops and the British as well as others are trying to help them have a civilized way of life. Apparantly some of them don’t want to live civilized but want to follow the way of the religious sects that call us all infidels. To my way of thinking, who are really the infidels? Them perhaps!

  4. Warthog Says:

I’d like to see a C-130 Gunship just tear those mobs to pieces! Or a F-16 could drop a cluster bomb on their asses! Why are our military running around like a police force? I remember a saying from the Vietnam era, “Fighting for someone elses freedom is like fucking for their virginity”.

  5. CERDIP Says:

No, we aren’t getting the full story from the ‘regular’ MSM outlets.

It wasn’t just British troops that were being stoned, but Iraqi troops as well.

And it wasn’t your average Basran Iraqi on the street that was picking up rocks and throwing them at the troops and swarming the wreckage, but followers of Mookie al-Sadr

It’s amazing how a few simple facts can change the essence of a news story…

  6. devildog6771 Says:

I have repeatedly said and will continue to say, the clerics “DO NOT WANT THIS TO SUCCEED.” Iran is much more involved in this than anyone will or wants to admit! First they want to affect American public opinion so we will leave Iraq. Then they want to set up Iraq like Iran. Then they want to destroy the American economy. Osama bin Laden said himself, early on, “We defeated the Russians. If we can defeat America too, we can succeed in our goal.

Their goal is a world of all Muslims. If we don’t convert we die or become slaves.

  7. mully Says:

Maybe the helicopter was shooting at them the day or week or month before. We’ve seen American military shooting on unarmed civilians before. Iraqis do not trust the occupying forces, they are afraid of them. They should be too, reading some of these comments here.

  8. bill Says:

oh no, people angry at a military force occupying their own country? Who’d a thunk they might be pissed off and not helped the downed pilots…. I wouldnt either if we were invaded by Mexico.. oh wait, we currently are.

  9. Odysseus Says:

So, Bill, you don’t see a difference between our overthrow of Saddam and his odious sons and Mexicans sneaking over the border for jobs? Not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?

  10. linda Says:

What I saw on the news tried to imply that it had something to do with a film made of some British soldiers taking some rock-throwers behind a wall and hitting them. Totally wrong in any case! I have a hard time getting my mind around people who cut off heads and mutilate bodies! I know they aren’t all like that but honestly, what century are these people in?

  11. devildog6771 Says:

Of all the blogs to visit, why would Bill and Mully chose the blog of a soldier? Why would they especially chose the blog of a soldier with PTSD? Additionally, have either of you ever served in the military? What, was that a no? Didn’t think so.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those who do and those who just give lip service. I served, as did four of my five brothers and sisters, during the Vietnam Era. My nephew was killed while serving in Kuwait. I can say with all honesty that no soldier I knew or met ever did anything illegal or in violation of the Geneva Convention that was not properly tried and if found guilty, paid for their crime.

As far as us occupying Iraq, that is an MSM term. We have repeatedly stated that when the Iraqi ask us to leave we will do so. So far they prefer us to stay until they have a stable government. I believe we did much the same thing in Japan and most of Europe after World War II. Had we not done so, most of Europe would still be in rubble.

Presently, the cost of rebuilding the Nations in Europe has taken most of their resources. There are less than a handful, if that many, with a military capable of defending themselves right now. Were we to bring all our troops home from every base in a foreign Nation, many local economies that depend on the revenues from those bases would suffer dramaticcly.

I agree that we would never like to have a foreign military base on our soil. I am also sure we would resent the local economic dependance that would arise from those bases. I am also sure that nations, us included, deeply resent having to rely on a foreign military because they were in such ruins after a war that the cost of rebuilding alone, was more than they could handle. No nation likes to be dependent on others, it’s human natiure.

But no American tanks roled into Hungary, Poland and other Nations and decimated those countries and made them virtual slaves, like the Russians did. Nor have we taken over countries all over Central America, the Middle East, Middle Asia, Indo China, and Africa like the Communists and now the Islamic extremists have done.

What is the same is the mealy mouth people who preferred appeasement even as the drums of war sounded in their ears from a militant oppressor because they lacked the guts or moral conviction to defend their homeland and sense enough to realize no country can hide its head in the sand any more while other nations are destroyed by extremists of any kind.

  13. bill Says:

I’ve got as much experience in the military as the combined civilian leadership of this country.

  14. American Soldier Says:

    Bill,

How about a SHUT THE FUCK UP!

If you want to have a legit argument then list your complaints in full. Instead of this hoorah one line gotcha crap.

  15. Broker Says:

    Dear AS,

Amen to you reply to Bill. It’s a great country, though, Bill and his elk get there say.

    Get well, soon!!

  16. Treasure of Baghdad Says:

    Hello there,
I am an Iraqi citizen and live in Baghdad. I am sorry that you are having this terrible feeling. What can I say? You occupied a country and you should have known the consequences.

I want to comment on the point you mentioned of why this is happening.

As an Iraqi, I was one of those who strongly wanted the US troops to come and get rid of the tyrant. As an Iraqi, I am sorry to tell you that I am so disappointed now. Right, the US removed Saddam but it destroyed Iraq by the continuous mistakes and the lack of awareness that Iraq is not the Iraq which the exiles told them about.

I think if you guys sit together and ask yourselves, why is this happening? You’ll find the answer like this: it is because the civilians lost relatives and loved ones because of your war, it is because of what happened in Abu Ghraib, it is because of the killing of the families in Hadeetha in cold blood, it is because of the continuous killing “by mistake”, it because of many things. Why don’t you try to think of these things in the first place? Hostility doesn’t come from the first sight, right? You guys were more than welcomed when you arrived Iraq. But have you asked yourselves now, why is this happening? It is because nothing positive, except saddam’s removal, happened. The country is falling and collapsing day after day. You are losing gradually, Iraqis are dying continuously, people lost their jobs … etc.

Donna said: “The gall of these people after our troops and the British as well as others are trying to help them have a civilized way of life.”
Well Donna, Iraq was a civilized country even before you were born. We had a secular country in which Iraqis enjoyed civilization maybe more than the Americans who struggled for a long time as they believed in discrimination and distinction between black and white people which never existed in Iraq. So please, don’t pretend to be the only civilized person on earth while your country destroyed the civilization of our civilized country.

Mully, Thanks a lot for dragging the attention of people to this point. There are many unarmed civilians, including women and children were killed and the military says they were killed “by mistake”. As an Iraqi citizen, I don’t trust anyone of them. they may shoot me whenever they want and then say “sorry, it was by mistake”. They don’t realize that such acts makes people think of revenge.

  17. Broker Says:

Jesus Christ the liberal talking points have made all the way to Baghdad!

Whoever you are, when one of your brothers runs out a shoots an RPG at our boys, then runs back into your house to hide, the bullets are going to fly. Call me a dumbass, but you can’t posibly be serious? I mean holy shit dude there are more Ak’s around then South Central. Ya’ll got one, right?

Don’t come here and use fake liberal spin we get daily from our own “drive by media” Don’t insult the finest most humane military in the world. And most of all don’t insult the dude that runs this blog.

Holy Shit, John Mirtha would be proud of you!!

  18. bill Says:

Haditha a terrific example of America’s “finest”

  19. Ric Says:

Obviously, the marines are under extreme pressure and tension. I can certainly understand how a group of marines, who live day after day after day with the constant fear of being blown up, after seeing their buddy get blown up, and who believe that many, if not all of the people in that village, know who placed that IED that killed their fellow marine, would, sooner or later, lose it and kill everyone in sight because everyone in that village knows who did it and therefore they are as guilty as the person laying the bomb. So the guys in the taxi cab get killed and the people in the house across the street from the bomb get killed, because they watched the person lay that IED and they did nothing to stop it.

Of course, you end up killing innocent people, even if they did know who did it. And of course, you lose whatever shread of support that was left in the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people. It is simply a no win situation.

As far as Murtha is concerned, this is no rush to judgment. He was briefed by high ranking Marine officers and he knows alot more about this incident than what has been communicated through the media. It will be shown that it was murder and there was a coverup and marine officers are involved.

And one has to ask the question, why are we having the marines, the tip of the spear so to speak, serve as policemen in this chaos?

Is anyone really surprised this happened? It was and is inevitable.

    RUMSFELD MUST GO

  20. Rafter Says:

It’s true, using a military force, just like the USMC, who are trained aggresively, to fight a conventional war, as a police force is dangerous. Marines are bound to get frustrated when an RPG or an IED kills comrades, and not being able to return fire. Ofcourse they will return fire, US Troops are been killed daily. As a brit who’s applying to join my countries Territorial Armed Forces I feel that if my friends were killed, or UK Casulties were at the same level as the US ones, I’d want to stat the shooting.

Innocent people are bound to die. But it is also the soldiers mentality that leads to such acts. For the most part its a lack of propper leadership and stupid ROE.

Whoeevr said that the helicopter opened fire on Iraqis a day, week, or month before…no offence but thats absurbd. The UK military is stretched so much I doubt it would fire Anti-Tank missiles at civilians, and the door gunner was probably more interested in watching out for any people carrying RPG or RPK’s.

  21. Markus Says:

Over here in Europe, especially in Germany we feel reminded of our own history. Germany has started a war of choice because we wanted to bring civilization and order to so many other countries. Especially in Serbia, but also in Russia and in many other countries German soldiers experienced exactly what the U.S. boys are experiencing now. The German wars which led to the end of anything that deserves the name “empire” - were started out of an enormous impression of superiority - in technology and many other things. Remember who built up the U.S. moon rocket program, and who were the leading heads behind the U.S. nuclear weapons program: Germans who started to work in the U.S. after WW2. Indeed, Germany was extremely advanced in terms of technology, and also in terms of the military. German weapons were really feared. But for what use? The whole thing was corrupted! It served to nothing but to suppress and dominate other nations! And this is exactly the message behind the politics in Washington. It was the same message in Vietnam by the way. And it was the message of the British empire that led to its end. Today I read that Mogadishu fell to an islamic militia. This is the end my friend(s)…. It becomes clear that no nation needs to be afraid of U.S. weaponry. This is exactly the same situation as in Stalingrad 1942, when it became clear that the German troops were not invincible. All the military is useless against the rage of the people.
But I’m not a U.S. citizen and I cannot influence politics at the other side of the Atlantic. It’s up to you guys to think if the U.S. should go another way. It’s not a question of right behaviour at the ballots, but it’s a question of an open, honest and self-critical public debate. The *real* worst-case scenario is not the loss of the Iraq war, but the end of the American influence world-wide, termendous oil prices, when it becomes clear that U.S. forces cannot secure the steady flow of oil in the Gulf region, enormous loss of value of the U.S. dollar, a collapsing U.S. economy, due to its sheer dependency on foreign money etc. That’s at stake, and not whether a crowd didn’t help the victims of the crash. The question is now if you, U.S. citizens, can find a way to formulate a modest foreign policy based on mutual respect to other cultures. The prerequisite is the end of the self-perception to be the exclusive and only missionaries of culture. Something we Germans had to find out the hard way.

  22. Coen Says:

    Amen Markus

  23. D.E. Riffe Says:

Bullshit Markus. The fact is, the Nazi’s were bent on conquest of what they perceived to be inferior races to enslave or exterminate them. The US goal is to get a stable Iraqi government in place. A government capable of letting the Iraqi PEOPLE determine their future. Not a dictator. Not Islam-o-facists. Then we will leave. We have no intent of enslaving anyone, nor to we want to wipe out the Iraqi people. We DO want to wipe out terrorists.

The Islamic Fascists have a LOT more in common with the Nazi’s than we do.

  24. S. Nordquist Says:

Oh great, now there’s a Government Bigness and Denial Race with Germany, Responsible Iraqi thinks that Marines don’t have High Standards for Taste and Discretion (We said 5k# Bomb –above– Puppet Show!) and someone has used an apostrophe for no reason in front of an ending s.

People please…and it’s optional for the turks if writing in amharic script…apostrophe for the posessive form only:
    Alien

  25. husam Says:

  26. husam Says:

    hi

  27. An American Says:

We should have just let our military do what they do best against our enemies, mame, kill, and destroy. From the east, west, north, and south. Descended like a hord of locust leaving rubble behind. Word would get out fast among the cowardly barbarian terrorist peice of shits ” don’t fuck with the United States, or they’ll plainly kick our asses”.
