A day in the life of an American Soldier. The personal passages of everything from family life to war.

North Korea has done a bad thing

American Soldier says,

According to seismic readings in the Pyongyang area, North Korea has done something. A 3.6 tremor came from the nuclear test site. So what does this tell us? Despite the threats and the little child who screams the loudest until he gets what he wants, they have done went over the edge.

They deserve every bit of retribution that will come their way. I seriously doubt the US will just let this slide. I doubt they will just dish out some sanctions. I think this might be it for North Korea.

If China disagrees with it, they are screwed!

I wouldn’t hold my breath for anything at all to happen to them.

    Bobbie

  2. dtodeen Says:

I agree Bobbie, I would not either. No leaders, no guts. Beisdes it’s all Bushes fault. Look for the Democrats to save us on this one. The party with all the answers to nothing!

  3. Cameron Says:

China has all of the clout on this one. NK depends on them for their very survival. China doesn’t want Japan or South Korea to go nuclear, so they’ll probably try to tame Kim Jong. Time will tell.

  4. Richard Wrenn Says:

I seriously think you live in an ignorant fantasy land.

  5. reefdiver Says:

NK has a fair amount of trade with Japan. Japan has already unilaterally put a ban on shipping and financial transaction between the countries. This may well be the most effective sanctions that will be put on NK.

The UNSC will do basically nothing of significance. Other countries in the area will have to unilaterally terminate trade with NK. However, as long as China keeps shipping oil and aid south, NK will survive - even if millions starve. Want to see Kim drop a brick, then threaten to cut off this aid. And thats just not going to happen.

The most significant thing about this test is not about NK having nukes, but that Iran undoubtly had a bunch of people there and probably bankrolled and specified the timing for the test.

  6. Caneholder Says:

This is deffinately going to show how ineffrctive the big U N is. Already the appeasers are at it. Bribery never got any one any thing except to pay out more. And the Dems want to get Bolten out as ambaserter [sp?] Can you just imagine if Dimbright was in?

Its to bad Trueman pulled McArthur out as at the time he was the only military person who really understook the orential thinking. But then that is what happens when politions influences are opposite of the military minds.

I am thankfull and glad A S is home.

  7. Wild Thing Says:

I agree with you, North Korea has to learn that this kind of thing will not be tolerated.

  8. Donna Says:

I don’t think China is going to do anything. They are hollering and screaming that they aren’t going to abide by sanctions! Guess it will impact the kickback they get from Kim Jong “ILL” !

  9. the swe Says:

Yep. The inosent people of north korea definetly deserve every bit of retribution that will come their way. just nuke em!!!!

  10. Rafter Says:

The swe you are a fucking prick, those people are starving and have no means to start a revolution. Wtf? So your saying we should of bombed Germany into the ground? Killing civilians that felt nothing for the Nazi cause?

NK is a problem that conventional warfare could deal with. Blockades would sort them out and heavy sanctions, the people would eventually rise up, giving way to EU forces to make a peacefull landing and to support them. Last thing the world neads is American Warplanes in the sky. Im all for hitting that country hard, especially with a US arsenal. But if America provided over 50% of the ground forces, it would give all those pricks in the Middle East more flak for their propogands. Would also send a nice message to Iran that we’re coming for them.

  11. KC Says:

I was wondering if this incident gets the Americans invading North Korea do you think you would participate?

  12. John Ryan Says:

Well 2 weeks have gone by and the USA has not done anything. Which company sold them those nuke reactors anyway ? Some Swiss company that had Rumsfeld as a director.
At some point Americans are going to have to realize that even as the one remaining superpower that are unable to control everything that happens, by the use of their overwhelming military power.

  13. Bryan Leger Says:

NK did do a bad thing. This will not be tolerated. However, if your country has a nuclear weapon or weapons of mass destruction, you are an unqualified country to tell them this. That would be a double-standard. If he wants a bomb that will blow up the planet, let him have it, America has more than that in fire-power and we don’t intend on using them. And yours are in the hands of a moron from texas with an itchy trigger-finger. I honestly think you people should not even worry about North Korea, Iran, even Iraq (If he wants to stay there, he will stay there or just let you think that he will be leaving at a near future date) worry about the present problems right now. Bush’s mess wil be the next presidents job to clean up. Don’t worry about what anybody else it doing. Worry about yourselves. By the way, Bush may say people like this (terrorists) hate freedom. Nobody hates freedom. Terrorists fight oppression because they never had real freedom. The truth is, people who have a lot of power over a large amount of people hate freedom. Why? If it wasn’t for your damn freedoms, Bush wouldn’t have had to wait until something blew up to go into Iraq. Funny though, before 9/11 no tall building had ever collapsed from a fire. None. Some burned for hours on end and did not collapse. Ironically, they burned for, what, not even an hour and then they imploded. Huh. Shouldn’t it have fallen over? Toppled? It was basically a giant pencil. It looked as though all the inner support gave away all at the same time. On all three buildings. Wow. So not olny were these the first buildings collapse from a fire, that was the first time three buildings IMPLODED at the same time. I’ve seen buildings implode before. It is really neat. I saw it once in vegas. Demolition crews places explosives in specific foundation and structural points all over the building. Mostly near the base. The building toppled within 10 seconds. That was cool. But, seriously, 9/11, really tragic. And it looked pretty cool not that I think of it. Like Hollywood. Wow, even you terrorist attacks are pretentious.

  14. Matt Says:

Yeah North Korea did test an undeground nuclear weapon, but will the U.S. really react and pay any serious attention to them because of this event? I don’t think so, I mean look at the Taliban, the current administration surely didn’t react appropriately to find Osama BinLaden after 9-11 and bring him to justice. Did they? I’m not so sure that the Bush administration will do anything until there is another attack on our home soil. Then what are they going to do?… Go start another war.

  15. Matt Says:

Congradulations about your soon arriving baby and thanks.

  16. John Ryan Says:

“I seriously think that this is it for North Korea”
At what point will you realize that what you “seriously think” has less to do with reality and more to do with how you wish the world worked.

  17. Beth Says:

Hi, I’m a student and I agree that North Korea deserves whatever comes at them too… They know well enough not to mess with america and the other powerful countries of the world yet they still did and because of that they should be punihsed. There’s a civilized way to go about things and they clearly didn’t obey them. Thank you for what you do for our country, we wouldn’t be the same with out the dedicated men and women that you are.

  18. Ankit Says:

I feel that North Korea is continuing its nuclear testing because they do not fear threats from other countries. Thus, sanctions should be imposed against North Korea because the previous warnings have been ineffective. In addition, North Korea feels empowered with growing global powers on its side like China who support Kim Jong il.

  19. Yasmine Says:

I am a student, and I really appreciate everything you and the other soldiers have done for our country! I agree with your perspective on North Korea and their nuclear weapons. They deserve what is coming to them. North Korea thinks that they are a strong world power and that no other country will try and retaliate, but the United States, hopefully, will fight back. North Korea deserves to be punished for messing with nuclear weapons, which they clearly know are prohibited.

  20. Peter Says:

I am a student and everyone is thankful for you and the other soldiers. The global community is worried about North Korea, and it building nuclear weapons. However, I think that another country should spear the effort against N. Korea other than the USA. North Korea is breaking the NFT treaty that was signed to prevent the building of nuclear weapons. Therefore it should be punished in a way that is deemed appropriate by the UN.

  21. hyangmi Says:

I am also a student and i really appreciate all your efforts and self-sacrifice for this country. however, though i am an american citizen and consider myself an american, my parents are korean so i am also deeply immersed in the korean culture. although the current world has two koreas, the korean people are one people disregardless of north and south. i am incredibly against all that kim jung il is doing, and i think that he and his fellow oppressors have it coming. but i don’t think that the whole nation must suffer because many of them are doing what they do against their will. north korean people suffer from starvation, poor economy, and everything else, helpless to defend themselves against tyrants.

  22. Mari Says:

Hi, I completely agree with you that North Korea is getting carried away and something should be done with them. Countries nearby them like Japan are being constantly threatened by them and I think they should be stopped once and for all. I’m a little surprised that no one has done anything with them yet, although they are a major threat right now, but considering that they haven’t attacked another country yet, I guess we can’t go fight them immediately. North Korea is a difficult country to deal with–though we have to do something about them, we can not punish them yet, since they haven’t directly done anything to us. Even if we were to do something, I think we need more support from other countries beside the US, since we still need to be concerned with Iraq.

  23. Shim-In Says:

i’m a student and i’m half korean my mother is from korea and i’ve visited korea numerous times. i actually went to the 38th parallel line and i do feel that north korea should be punished for what they are doing but i also think that not all north koreans are involved and that not everyone should be punished for a few peoples decisions already the people there are starving and being tortured everyday but i think the US should get involved and help out

  24. Julia Says:

I am a student and I want to thank you firstly for protect9ng our country, we need more people like you. I agree with what you have to say about North Korea. I think they are well aware of how the world is against their nuclear weapons but they continue to go on making these weapons b/c they are unafraid of what will happen to them. As a result, I feel that they deserve what comes to them regarding the nuclear weapons.

  25. Manish Patel Says:

I only agree with your comment that North Korea has done a bad thing. I disagree with everything else !!!

North Korea and China have had it? This is it for them? Are you even a real soldier? Do you have a clue on how the US credibility and US military in the world are really stretched thin? And who is going pay (monetarily as well as in terms of lives) for the next war that US goes to?

Get real … and if your life as American Soldier is so peaceful that you can day dream like this, then come — join the civilian side of society in America

  26. Kathleen Says:

Hi, i am a student and am very grateful that you are one of the people protecting our country. A part of me does agree with you, but i am korean. I am from South Korea. i left Korea when i was really young so i don’t remember much about my hometown. If the U.S. does not “let north korea slide” this time, they may bomb them which affects south korea. Even though i don’t remember much about Korea, i still celebrate korean traditions. I undersstand that north korea has done some bad things, but it would be devastating to me if anything bad happened to that country.

  27. Spencer Says:

There is no question that the North Koreans are wrong and breaking a treaty to prevent the building of nuclear weapons. However, I do not believe that the answer to their mistakes has anything to do with the U.S. itself. I think if anyone should act, it should be the UN.

  28. Colette Says:

Hello, I’m a student and i just want to start off with saying thank you for everything that you do for our country. You have been extremely dedicated and i appreciate that. I agree with you on this that North Korea does deserve what they have coming for them. They shouldnt have done this, and they should’ve know better.

  29. Carissa Says:

Hi, I’m also a student and I do agree with what you’re saying, for the most part. North Korea should indeed be punished for this. They’re definately asking for it by building nuclear weapons. But, the U.S. probably shouldn’t do this alone. Instead, they should probably consult others like the UN.

  30. Gillian Says:

Yes I agree that what North Korea is doing maybe wrong in some respects but I dont think that the US has the time money or trops to deal with such a big power as North Korea. With the war going on American has enough to deal with.

  31. JOAN SHORT Says:

My son will soon be stationed in South Korea after his BT. What is it like? Will he be in much danger? Will he freeze? He is mortar man in infantry from Fort Benning, GA. What will he be doing all day there besides guarding that DMZ wall? Thank you.

  32. kory Drake Says:

I have heard many things about north korea these past few months, and from what iv read and seen on the news (as if it was all the facts) im sure we will be shuting them down soon.
